Wooo! Heheh, more people to teach Chinese I'm impressed. But, Like you said one word can have a lot of meanings. Saying ' Wo shi ben' can mean I am ben, or I am stupid

I can think of one right now...The words "ni(you)" and "hao(good)" are both pronounced separately using the 3rd tone but when combined as "ni hao(hello)", the word 'ni' is pronounced using the 2nd tone while 'hao' retains its 3rd tone...

Hope this helps...

Chinese has some resemblance to Japanese in a way, so I guess it'd help if you have some knowledge on it. I can't go into details because I'm still a greenhorn at the Japanese language myself, but this's what I know anyway

hi everyone ,
i come from china(beijing) ,i have seen this board's disscus about chinese langue.i am so happy.but i have seen some word is not right .so i wanna to say something . PS :my english is so poor .so i want you to help me to make corrections, thanks a lot .
eg:some are use to word .(chinese langue is different other langue.it has many vary dialects, but PU TONG HUA( sorry ,i don't know haow to say it ,could be offical langue .)is usually.)
ni hao - hello
ni shi na guo ren - where are you come from
ni xi huan chi zhong guo cai ma ?-do you like eat chinese food ?
ni duo da le /ni duo shao sui le -haw old are you
the best interesting is that chinese langue have vary form to say .eg:wo ai ni -i love you. but you can say: wo xi huan ni ,wo xi han ni .and the best hard phrasing is ..eg: shai tai yang -To expose oneself to pleasant warmth from sun.everyone don't know why use a "shai" this verb word .beacuse that is idiom.

if you want to learning chinese ,i can help you .you can give me english and i can translate to chinese ,and give you some rules of chinese.
