New York Post Racism? - 02-19-2009, 12:39 AM

Quote:

At first glance, the main editorial cartoon in today's New York Post seemed like just another lurid reference to the story that the tabloid had been covering with breathless abandon for two days running - the shooting by Connecticut police on Monday of a pet chimpanzee that viciously attacked his owner's friend.

But the caption cast the cartoon in a more sinister light. "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill," it read, prompting accusations that the Post was peddling a longstanding racist slur by portraying president Barack Obama, who signed the bill into law yesterday, as an ape.....

Obviously a poor choice of editorial cartoons, but I am sure the racist intonations were not intended. Obama didn't write the stimulus bill, members of Congress did, which is surely who they referencing.

One could just as easily say that the "chimp" was George Bush, couldn't they?

Only in Washington could someone find any logic in the government's borrowing their way (with the taxpayer's money) to prosperity.

In the end, it will not work. The money will be gone, and the collapse will merely be delayed. It would be better to let it fall now, and use the trillion or so "stimulus" dollars as a foundation for a better economy.

The government is trying to fight a forest fire with a water pistol.

Who is an advocate for the stimulus bill?? Who wanted it first?? Who flew around the United States getting people to agree on this bill? the answer to all those questions--Obama... I dont think they meant anything by this cartoon intentially but it did raise a hell fire and it most certainly looks racist. They certainly have some explaining to do since in the past they have reffered to African-Americans as Chimps, Apes and such. Who cares if they reffered to Bush as one too I know this.

Rest in peace Kyle <3

And if the cop said "They better get a new advocate for the stimulus bill." then I would say "Yup, that's racist."
