I only believe that assisted suicide is fine if;

A: The person's death is imminent, and all they are doing is suffering before they die.

B: If they give you the consent, if they are disabled, or going through permanent suffering.

Apart from that, I do not believe it is right to take their lives. If they feel that they can live through it, then we can do nothing but comply. But if they wish to end their lives, due to a serious health problem which is causing pain, it'd be cruel to let them live through it.

If the person's disease is incurable and he/she is in a lot of pain and he/she wants to end his/her life, I think mercy killing should be allowed, as long as the loved ones and family agree to do it. It's a hard decision to make for them but at the end of the day they are the ones who are going to be affected by that decision.

Yes, but with safeguards in place. A set criteria that prospective euthanasia cases would have to fulfill.

Like others have said, I have no problems with euthanasia for someone who is terminally ill or whose quality of life is severely diminished as opposed to a regular healthy person. I'm thinking of quadriplegics and similar cases.

The only thing I actually fear about euthanasia is:

i) People of questionable mental health being given the go ahead
ii) Governments/hospitals using euthanasia as a way to get rid of undesirables in a kind of under-the-radar legalized murder

Edit: I also think it should be entirely up to the person involved, as long as they satisfy any other legal requirements.

Don't be sad

It won't hurt. A couple of shovel hits in the face and everything should be finished pretty quickly

Read the post before reacting. I said in an depressed manner. In that logic, I was referring to people who are obviously unable to make an decision without being badly influence by there feelings. Having someone wanting to die, and trying to go threw (in depressing) with that is WRONG.

That said, I would appreciate it, if you would read my posts more carefully.

Firstly I stated that voicing your opinion is not wrong, wither the actual content and context of the opinion remains up for debate. secondly I made the point about having influences on the decision process can lead someone to make the wrong decision.

I totally agree with you

People have a very strange/warped view on life and death.
I think keeping a person alive who is in terrible pain and wants to die is just wrong.
(That dosen't mean I think people should go around killing each other)
But in my oppion people seem to feel the need to pay big $$$$$ to keep terminally ill people/family alive.
I think that it's the persons life and that they should have the right to choose.
In closing I think that Mercy killings are a good thing but it has to be up to the person to decide.
(please note that these are my beliefs and are NOT meant to offend anyone)

And I suggest that people try listening to Natalie Merchants song "Beloved Wife" as it pertains to this matter.

Err, that just explains what mercy kill is... if the person's death isn't imminent it isn't mercy kill.

Basically everybody here has been saying the same thing as you 'If it is this way I'm okay'. IT IS that way already.
