There's a show called Monster Bug Wars on the Science Channel. Tonight's episode showed a geji geji vs a praying mantis.

Geji geji smoked him in like five seconds. It was impressive.

We get a lot of geji geji up this way. Sure they're a little creepy but basically harmless. We also get a lot of big spiders. I'm a bit of an arachnophobe so they really creep me out. They have huge webs I have been known to squeal like a little girl if I accidently walk through one! We also have the big hornets. I've never had a problem with them. They aren't really all that aggressive normally unless you try and take down a nest. There was a women who died up here last summer though from being attacked by them whilst on a hike up Mt Yotei. She must have been allergic. Luckily the warmer months don't last too long in Hokkaido so neither do the bugs.

Ah...if only I'd seen this post when I was a little girl...Maybe it would have cured me of my Japan obsession...Now it's too late... I've spent a long time ignoring the possibility of bugs existing in Japan but...those hornet things a seriously scary....Are they numerous? And for the centepede and hornet stings that are poisonous, is death unavoidable or is there a time limit to get to the hospital? What about lyme disease, is it cureable?

i love bugs. i even have two dried scorpions in a glass box along with some butterflies, like giant Atlas Moth
i love bugs that look terrifying since then i have even bigger desire to touch them.
only things i don't like are bees...they put me in the hospital once thou i'm not allergic, but still there is only so much stings that you can take. so now i have a little phobia and grandfather being bee-keeper doesn't help.

one of the first posts was about ticks. don't know about japan but here ticks are common. specially if you go to woods with dogs. i once got some 13 grape-sized ticks out of my dog. i've caught some crawling on me, but never got bitten (once in my life only). well still - i've taken vaccines all my life (once every 2 years or so) for safety.

It's a wasp, by the looks of it, a parasite type, but which one exactly, I don't know.

Reverse psychology, "dear Watson", reverse psychology.

Some of these pictures don't bother me but HOLY **** They're huge! Especially the spiders! *shudders*
Oh great, deadly hornets. Well, -That's really going to help my phobia against bees and stinging insects- NOT! >0<
As for eating bugs, that would be disgusting, unless if it would be for survival I guess. A girl in my sociology class said that on average we eat a spider a night while we're sleeping. Now that's creepy. O________O

@ Do not put on the black clothing.
@ Do not apply the perfume.
@ It returns to the reverse direction if intimidationed.
