I'm interested in what people's learning problems are with Japanese.

Kanji, Kanji, Kanji!!!!

Aside from that, vocabulary. I usually get grammar rules okay, but I'm terrible with forming sentences since I still have limited vocabulary.

Oh man, sentence structure.

But then, I haven't even begun learning Kanji.

Kind regards,

Handwriting. I have to write fairly slowly and in pencil for tests lest the examiners eyes bleed. But my handwriting in English is also horrible so its the same for Japanese.

I agree with SSJup, Kanji is so frustrating! I was supposed to learn 90 last spring and only picked up 70-something. Plus, my writing of some Kanji is atrocious, like when I try to write 書 and 買. My Hiragana and Katakana are just fine, though, I write Japanese better than the alphabet.

And I have slight problems with verb conjugation, particularly with the potential form, since I get confused on how alot of young Japanese drop the 'ら' in 'られる' and how 'します' turns into 'できます'.

I thought "suru" was more like "to do" and "dekiru" meant more so along the lines of "to be able to" or "can do".

Yes, I am. Those are the definitions of dekiru and suru I have; "to be able to do" or "can do" and suru as "to do".
