I've been reading your thread. I was thinking about going to a Japanese collage. I made A 3.5 GPA in HS and I'm learning Japanese right now. I just wondered if that was even probable or even possible. Any advice would be well received.

Is Miyavifan ever coming back?

Really? I don't think we saw things all that different. Time will tell, and Miyavifan is surely coming back

Well, I dont have anywhere near enough money to attend college in the US to get a degree in just about anything, and I want to live in Japan.

What are some examples of jobs that can allow me to stay there that dont require a degree? Once I'm there, I know I can get work, but I need a job to basically get in there and get some cash saved up.

What is your work experience Miyavifan?

And where do you exactly live?
I'm sorry for the late reply.

Well, a little fast food, a little hotel work, a little PCA.

office type work, as a volunteer. (filing, stuff like that)

I live in Minnesota.

Actually I don't.

And you are an American citizen?

Tons of people take students loans and financial aid to get through college so you might want to look into that.

Begin with a community college and if you do well, there are opportunities to scholarships so there are ways around.

It is really up to you to commit yourself to it.

Even if you do get a job in Japan, without a college degree, your options will be limited anyways and you would be stuck with some crappy job.

Unless you are Bill Gates or Larry Ellison, you need a degree.

So I guess this is my advice to Miyavifan as well.

It's not too late to go back to college.

And if you really want to come to Japan, it may be the fastest way.

You would get your degree and also college would give you time to learn and practice your Japanese.

It's never too late and you might as well take some action now than regretting it later.

Time is a awful thing to waste...

Good luck Miyavifan and you can do it!!
