I dunno, my parents are married for 20 odd years..I guess you could call that a relationship...they either dont cheat on eachother or do it so well that the other doesn't notice and they still can get along fine...

There's always exceptions. And usually people are together for long time because they are already too used with that situation, not because they are really in love. But there's cases of people that are together for long time and really like ecah other, sure, but it's the minority.

Do you really live in a society where 20 years of marriage is rare?? That's sad /hug

Sure the first falling in love kinda love matures into something else, but hey, you said relationships never last. I claim they can, and do. I'm not saying anything about love though

Yes,but if the relationship lasts just because they are used to the situation,it's something quite artificial. There's many married couples that barely talk to each other. So it's like if they were not together at all.And yes,I live in a society where 20 years of marriage is too rare.I don't know about the rest of the world, but I guess that,in general,it's not much different.

So..a relationship is artificial if the flame of passion burned up? Why? You can still be tightly emotionally attached to eachother. You built up a relationship with someone, and as a result over time you become (emotionally) dependant on eachother. Is that dependancy together with an emotional attachement in your eyes so flimsy that you would call such a relationship artificial??

So what about platonic relationships? Are they artificial by default?

Okay maybe im just oldfashioned hahaha could very well be the case

No no that kind of relationship you described is quite common and is not artificial for me.It's artificial just when people are togheter just by habit.Without any feelings. That happens a lot,and that is artificial. And I guess platonic relationships are very interesting.
