I don't believe so. Why do you ask? Did I take a liberty that someone so unfamiliar to you as myself should be chastised for? |

Anyway, I just watched a few YouTube vids on Nostradamus, and also Googled about him. What a load of bullshit. They are pulling at straws with some things. Taking nothing and turning it into something. The funniest things are people view Napolean to be an anti-Christ! WTF? Also, they named Hitler, Bush Junior, and Obama as other anti-Christs. Why the fu*k is Bush an anti-Christ, also? He is one of the most devout Christians I know. Fu*k me... And Napolean was simply a military strategist. Obama, he only has opinions as of yet that seem less Christian, but you'd think an "anti-Christ" would display physically, also. Not that I'm Christian. It all seems retarded as fu*k to me. |

Well, perhaps you do know me, if you met this person somewhere else. It's a familiar title, but I can't say I remember such a poem. I'm new to this forum, but perhaps if you met them on another site, it was me. |
I like this stuff, it's funny:
Nostradamus in popular culture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This is the funniest part. Like most Nostradamus prophecies around, it is a complete lie, and Nostradamus never said it. But it made me laugh. It is about Bush getting elected: Quote:

For example you can often watch such documentaries, and many of the witnesses or speakers will be unaccredited people who have a vested interest. They sell books on the topic or something. The documentary has them there for 'balance' and to keep the listener hooked. It usually goes something like: could this be true??? this guy says so: oh yes it's true however, this guy says not: nah it's hooey but questions still remain!: they can't explain this and that it's a mystery! :O Whether you believe in whatever the issue is, this kinda format for a popular documentary is common and pretty unscientific. You can't even give the documentary credence for having relevant academics on because it will often sideline them. Not to suggest that the documentary you watched was like this, or that all history channel docs must be (haven't seen it or them all), but without having to watch either this is a fair assumption for me to have? This thread is about shifting through bullshit to discover facts. People listing beliefs does not really help, especially when they don't state it's a belief. |

Straight up, it pulls out a claim from a picture that the arrow of Sagutarius and a women in it form a cross... and that is signifigant... WTF? I also have a prophecy and would like to declare a Saint: when I saw Saaya Irie last my penis pointed to the heavens. Therefor, she must be holy. LOL. |

That's your que to go google some, buddy. I'm not going to sit here and do research for you. I don't believe we are all going to die on December 12th. However, scientists believe the outer most tectonic plate of the Earth will completely rotate, which will cause destruction in some form. The Mayans predicted this also. Take it or leave it, love it or hate it, this is what they think. Want some "sufficient proof?" Then stop arguing with me and go to the library. Whatever you believe, this is what scientists believe. |

The article I linked to mentions specific experts in the relevant fields: Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. Susan Milbrath, a Maya archaeoastronomer and a curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History. University of Florida anthropologist Susan Gillespie Are the scientists you're referencing about tectonic destruction in the documentary? I'll watch it and find them if necessary. |

The reason I'm not providing you with numerous websites and whatnot is because what I'm saying is all over the internet, tv (as I've shown you), books, magazine articles. It just takes you to go look for them. |

Also, just as I have just done with my claim, it is your responsibility to back up your own claim, not mine. Someone (might have been you, I can't remember) recently shot me down for simply denying someone else's claims (I said stuff like, no, no that's not true, etc). This was right because I didn't back them up, and I couldn't have just said 'this is on the internet'. If you disagree with what I'm saying, then leave it at that. I'll watch that documentary and find the academic talking about the tectonics. |

OK it was just a short clip.
There was one guy talking about it whose name wasn't given in that point of the documentary (was only like 2/3 mins). I haven't been able to dig up any information that I totally understand or is a short sharp rebuttal by relevant academics. However I haven't found relevant academics in favour either. If I had the patience I could trawl the internet and learn all the science involved, but I don't, so I'll just be a bit lazy and rely on more general assumptions. If someone was bringing indepth scientific points which they could backup with relevant academics and sources then I'd be more pushed to reply, but no one has. Generally people have dropped the claim that the Mayan date alone is significant, and rely on some coinciding phenomena as being significant. However, neither of the two that I can remember (solar flares, shifting magnetic poles) have given off any suggestion of being considered a threat by any relevant academics (I know I use that phrase a lot, can't think of a better one). I don't mean to nonchalantly brush off detailed arguments made by posters, but I'd appreciate more sources before I can consider any theories to do with world destruction seriously. |

2012 eh? I believe the world will end, but not during that year ;] I dont think anything will happen, its just mass hysteria like the time they claimed to have found weapons of mass destruction in iraq..... wtf? Anywho, nothing will happen my friend, its just gonna be another year, upon which the world is slowly destroying itself, I just hope that you enjoy your life as much as possible before you die.
|
Nothing will happen. So the Mayan calendar ends. So what? Does that mean we have to end with it? No. I don't think so.
Penn and Teller have already called Bullshit anyways.. ...you don't watch? *tsk tsk* Maybe you should. |
