You are saying different things between the two languages, which is making me wonder which one to go by in my corrections.

"my time spended (spent) in Japan" = You already went to Japan.
私の日本の行く時について = You will be going to Japan.

納豆がすこし好きではありませんね makes no sense. Japanese-speakers will not be able to tell if you like it or dislike it.

I will mostly use your English versions for my corrcetions.

Would it be jung san wa nijuusai desuka?
and to say jung is 20 years old
would it be jung san wa nijuu desu.

"20 years old" is an exception to how you count age. It is pronounced はたち (hatati).

I am making a shirt design and I need help with translating a sentence and restructuring it. please this is very important. if you can help me reply or send message and we can go into further detail. its quite simple. i just dont want to mess anything up and print them out wrong.

I think people are used to working in the forums as opposed to PMs, unless this is something terribly embarrassing. Generally the rule around here is try once to translate what you want to say and then we'll help you from there. :)

Try it yourself first and we can make corrections. You will not accomplish anything if we just give you the answer. The act of using a dictionary and trying to conjugate stuff and put the sentence together yourself will make you better, even if you make mistakes.

for you who do not know, scene is basically a more youth, punky version of the pop scene.

that is how the sentence is structured. garbage being the last word it is the biggest. i know Japanese grammar is quite different and the word garbage would not be last in a Japanese sentence. how could i structure that sentence in Japanese and what would be the best word to substitute scene for. i dont think japan has the slang term scene.

I really don't think you can even translate this sentence. To the best of my knowledge, "scene" cannot be translated here. There is no concept of "scene" in Japanese that is equivalent. Just like if you wanted to say ガングロってヤベッ in English, there is no concept of "ganguro" in English.

Also it strikes me as particularly "scene" to wear a shirt like this in the first place. So ironical, which makes it hipster and not scene, which makes it not ironic, which makes it scene not hipster, and WE'RE CAUGHT IN AN INFINITE LOOP.

Ok, then pop it is. As for your opinion on the shirt, I really dont care.

(leaving: going away leaving someone behind, walking out on somebody)

私は去っている、 あなたは滞在する, でも、お幸せに
「わたしはさっている、あなたはたいざいする, でも、おしあわせに」
“Stay where I left you, but be happy” or “I am going away you stay, but be happy”
(What I really wanted to say is this "Stay where I left you, but happily" but I thought it would sound better in English like above.)

That's at least one too many pronouns used in a short sentence like this.

To use as much as what you used:
「去っていく時、あの黒いノートを持っていって。」

If I did not have to use too much of what you used:
「出ていく時、あの黒いノートを忘れないで。」

Doesn't make much sense as is. I would phrase it:

「私が離れていく場所にそのまま残って幸せになって。 」
「私がいなくなったこの場所で幸せに暮らして。」
「私は出ていくけど、あなたはここで幸せになって。」 , etc.

On a t shirt of a friend there was the writing ヒトも動物だってこと I assume it stands for ヒトも動物だということ. What is the difference from saying simply ヒトも動物だ?
I mean, I know that ということ can give the meaning of "I heard that..." or else "I mean...", but it seems to me that this is just a plain statement...maybe I am trying too much to read between the lines? :mtongue:

Both are statements but the one using ということ sounds considerably softer and indirect, which are precisely the qualities in speech that many of us were brought up to prefer.

If you would be ineterested in loose, non-literal translation, mine would be:
ヒトも動物だってこと = "Humans are animals, too, after all, ya know?"
ヒトも動物だ = "Humans are animals, too. Period."

(Hope I didn't confuse you all the more with the translations.)

Just to make sure, does 知っておくと mean "in case you already know it"? And how is 得 read in the sentence above?

That is not what 知っておくと means. It means "if you (take your time to) learn it (in preparation for something)".

得 is read とく. An extremely important word, this is.

Thanks again for the tips, masaegu :) By the way, would you mind listing the uses of おく when it comes after て form verbs? To tell the truth, I haven't fully grasped this verb yet, although I have seen it so many times.

This has repeatedly been explained here, so I will be very brief.

1. Perform an action in preparation for something.

「土曜日にパーティーをやるので、ビールを買っておか なければならない。」
「来週テストをします。今週中にしっかり勉強しておき なさい。」

2. Leave something as it is.

「花子ちゃんはぐっすり寝ている。このまま寝かせてお こう。」
「ここに一晩車をとめておいてもいいですか。」

3. Complete a job by a certain time or while a certain condition lasts.

「若いうちに富士山に登っておきたい。」
「朝８時までにゴミを出しておけば持っていってくれる 。」

I am over 99% certain that it is a coined word. As for its reading, it would be じゅうこく and it would probably mean something along the lines of "dark and heavy".

Hi, I came across this phrase "もう戻るには遅過ぎる" on alc website and, the english translation is "be too late to turn back now", so I was wondering if I can say "もう戻るのは遅過ぎる" instead?

If you want a black or white answer, then it's a definite no. However, some people would actually use the latter form if they are not speaking carefully. Couldn't recommend a Japanese-learner use it, though.
