「私のは日本的な日本語じゃなかったんですか？」 is like mentioning you are sure that your JP was very natural. I wouldn't recommend you to speak this way to native JP speakers.

Next...saying "英語の方が良いですか？" here is rude I think. I wrote that "English line too"...

Well... it's like you are mentioning that you are sure that your JP isn't wrong at all. Anyway... if don't change your sentence much... then it should be...

　何をどう思うかは本人の自由だけれど、日本人は基本 的には物事を直接的には表現しません。特に自信がある ことをひけらかしたり、相手に敬意を払えないような態 度だと、非常に無礼な人間だと思われることもあります 。

If u use the spoken form, it becomes こっち. Haven't heard こちら or あちら？

こちら　<-> あちら
here, this side <-> there, other side

ここ is like... a spot...like your room, your house. こちら is bigger area... like your region, your country, your side...

You can use ここ too. I think こちら better. But in either case, you need to change it to は from に。That was the point.

X　「ここにもう深夜に」
O　「ここはもう深夜に」

　不自然というより、これについては「間違い」です。

Many people have colds. In Japan, sick people often wear white face masks.

たくさん ひと は、かぜ が あります。 にほん に、 びょうき の にと は、しろい マスク が きます。

I have seen many masks lately.
最近 沢山 白いマスク は 見かけます。

In the weather forecast, you can hear "今日は寒い1日になりそうです" like that.
I think you can consider 寒い as "cold weather".
