Are Japanese guys the same "size" as Americans?
 

I saw an interesting chart that ranked the average size of Japanese and American men equal at 5" - women, if you've been with both types of men, would you say this is true? I thought the average here was 6 and 4 in Japan. (2ch may be a better site for this but my Japanese isn't great) :mtongue:

Her friend that gets around a lot said the same thing, westerners tend to be bigger, but also softer she says. Apparently Japanese guys are more like bolts and westerners are more like bananas.

The only thing I can say is that the standard condom size is smaller, IMO from experience. I mean, I'm not going to totally stereotype but if that is an indicator of anything...

I am a girl, and I have dated American and Japanese men... And am married to a Japanese guy.

I have found that there is really no difference - at least not between white American men and Japanese guys.
Well, white guys tend to be bigger while flaccid.

Condom sizes have a lot more to do with the "condom culture" - if you can call it that. Japan teaches that condoms need to be TIGHT - "use the absolute smallest you can fit into". America tends to lean toward "use the most comfortable, as long as it doesn`t slip off".
I think that this MAY have something to do with the harder / softer thing, but can`t really be for certain. Something in a very tight condom is going to feel harder than something in a larger one.

lol.. you guys have to understand how these sort of results are collated.

They get to this conclusion via a survey of some sort (or mutliple surveys which might skew things a bit).

They will get hundreds or thousands of participants where they will measure the penis size... and THEN come up with an average which is what you see.

Some people will fall on the bigger side of the average and some people will fall on the smaller side.

If the difference in AVERAGE is one measly INCH (a couple of centimetres).. then I'm going to go ahead and agree with Nyororin's point.

This is true with height also. While in Japan I noticed in general that the average height of people was shorter than in NZ... but there were still a lot of people that I saw that were taller or the same size as me and I'm about average for a NZer in height (just a guess... I'm 183cm or 6 ft).

Bottom line.. if you want a guy with a big penis then dating a specific race is only going to improve your odds slightly (statistically speaking). It won't gauruntee it.

Women.. It's better to focus on attributes that are more important and learn how to work with what you've got (which is generally the attitude amongst most women I know at least).

An inch is a lot.

Not when you're talking averages and you consider the range probably extends 2 or 3 inches either side of that average.

Of course you're going to have outliers, but if the data is skewed enough in either way but the average is still a solid inch, that's quite a lot. That's how averages work. Having people fall on either side of the average but still coming up with that number actually says more.

It depends on how many outliers there are. But considering a "normal" penis (as opposed to an average one) is generally considered as one within 4-8 inches (under 3.5 inches and you are designated with a condition known as micropenis... and over 8 then you're just extremely rare) I would guess that when expressed as a bell curve, the data would mostly overlap.

I'd assume there'd be a lot of outliers. 4-8 inches is extremely broad, but most resources will give a definitive answer of about 5. Therefore, it's assumed it would be quite easy to fall on either side of this number with a 4-8 spread.

If I remember correctly, most resources say that it is anything but definitive (It is often acknowledge that various surveys often produce different averages but that average tends to fall in between 5-6.)

On average shorter yes, both in height and in length.
Lots of guys here are taller than me, generally I'm taller though.

In my experience, going the other way, Japanese women are generally significantly more petite down there than their wester counterparts, then again a few of the women I've been with here have been more spacey than the westerners I was with...

Sure.. but the odds aren't as stacked in your favour as you might think though which is my point. If you're considered "around average" in Japan you're probably "around average" in America (for a white person).

lol.. yeah it kinda is because it's literally about penis size. (Not sure if it's a New Zealand wide colloquialism but in my group of friends at least... to have a "dick measuring contest" is to argue or talk about something so stupid or irrelevant simply to boost your ego or status)

But yeah.. it particularly annoys me how this stereotype feeds overall into whitey's superiority complex over not just Japanese... but Asians in general and is really not all that different to how whitey sees itself as superior to the black man.

In the same way as Africans or Arabs are stereotyped as "savage" and "stupid" (or at the very least not as smart).. Asians are stereotyped as being effeminate (or at the very least not as manly).

And these misunderstood statistics surrounding penis size feed into that stereotype which is stupid on two counts because a) It doesn't really work on an individual level and is really not all that much of an "advantage" (as I try to explain in a statistical way) but also b).. because it doesn't REALLY matter. I mean having a bigger member is definitely an advantage. But so is not being overweight or hairy (something East Asians beat white people in statistically)

I think this takes things a bit too far out of context. If someone gives you some kind of empirical data that shows a particular trend to be true (such as the "inch" discussion before), I don't think it's necessary to grasp at something like racist undertones and link them to a topic that may have a less desirable outcome for at least one party (in this case, the claim against asians).

When discussing national average, we're given just that, an average. I have no problem admitting that (since I'm American), I'm sure a deal of black men may be on the higher end of the average spectrum for the American national average. That's not to say that all black men are packing, but biologically there seem to be trends to show that they have the potential to be bigger. But although they may be racially black, they still contribute to the national average as Americans, which could be a potential factor in international size differences. America isn't just white people, so I don't know how (for at least America's sake), the white man is at it again to bring other races down.

Similarly, you brought up Camaroon as the largest sized nation. Well a quick search showed that the population size is of men 15 and over (taking into account puberty) is only about 9 million. Compare that to the US which has about 118 million in the same age bracket. One sample size is 20x larger than the other, so there's going to be MUCH more skewed data as a result. So of course we could acknowledge that they may have the highest "concentration," but does that really have the same relevance when knowing what the population size is? It's like the fattest nation in the world has a population in the thousands. Half of America is obese (150 million). Which is a stronger statistic? This isn't "whitey" trying to make himself feel superior, it's objectively looking at data and weighing it.

The problem isn't that Asians are being stereotyped as effeminate. The problem is non-Asians have a problem with this in the first place. The majority of men are just going about their business really. In Japan,no-one expects them to hold things a certain way or walk a certain way. No-one cares if they buy a man bag. They can eat a banana if they want. I mean yes occasionally someone will call them gay if they're getting close to another man and women say they don't want feminised men now even though for years they said they did but apart from that,I should be able to walk. Down a street. This is the biggest problem I have with this country. Racism is fine,in comparison. I can deal with racism. This is why I don't understand the Japanese suicide rate.

You know, whenever the subject of penis size comes up... I kind of wonder why no one ever brings up the correlation to body size. It`s as if the penis is an entity isolated from other rules of development and growth.

In general, someone who is physically smaller is likely going to be physically smaller everywhere. Someone who is physically larger is likely going to be physically smaller everywhere. The penis doesn`t sprout in isolation.

My personal experience is that there has been no noticeable difference - but all the guys I have dated have been in the same height range. (175cm to 180cm). There is no real reason to expect a difference - the penis grows with the body.

Now, if I were to have dated a guy <160cm tall, and then compared him to someone >200cm tall... There is definitely reason to expect some difference. And no doubt, there would be a difference unless they were both flukes.

Ive noticed that half the japanese guys are my size and half of them are just behind.

Very good observation, I'd be willing to bet a lot that there is far more correlation between penis size and height than nationality or ethnicity!

There also happen to me much more detailed studies on height per nationality than penis sizes lol. But that does make the whole thing a lot easier for women hoping to find big-penised guys, just look for tall ones!

Then again... some of the nicer fits I've found for women were taller than the more little women.. but maybe that's just an issue of overall health and muscle percent...

You can't judge Japanese as effeminate by Western standards because you don't speak for the West.

I'm a Westerner and I don't think Japanese men are effeminate.

I believe it's more than safe to say that, in general, westerners perceive asian men, including Japanese, as being relatively more effeminate than them. This isn't some kind of racist nonsense, a survey would show that for sure.

Men like you and I who have been to Japan, or live here now, have had our horizons broadened a bit and can perceive things a little differently, to see things more like they are.

Japanese men tend to think western guys are huge and strong and insensitive. Western men tend to think Japanese guys are small and weak and sensitive (attributes associated with femininity in the west).

This isn't about political correctness, it's about generalizing a group of people, which is perfectly OK to do until you start assuming individuals think the same way based on their groupings.

With women, there is a lot that can be done to "change" that area. Both in the negative and positive.
A lot of it does, indeed, come down to muscles. In that specific area. That is why there are exercises out there to "improve tone" down there.

Things can also go in a negative direction if she is unlucky and tears for some reason - then doesn`t heal well. Childbirth is the most obvious reason, but rough sex or even forced insertion of a tampon at too young an age can do it.

With a guy, there isn`t a whole lot that can be done to change what he has.


In regard to the "effeminate guy" talk...
After having been here for as long as I have - When encountering the "typical" western man, or watching western television, it always feels like they are seriously going out of their way to emphasize masculinity. To the point that it seems over the top, and like it is being faked. As if there is some strange fear that someone might think they`re not 100% man.
It ends up being a weird bit of culture shock.

I don`t see anything effeminate about Japanese men in general. There are effeminate men out there, but they`re definitely the exception.

I don't personally think Japanese men are effeminate, anymore. It took about 4 months of living here for that to change though.
It changed when I met the most chauvinistic arrogant man's man of men with more girlfriends than I have fingers looked much much more feminine by western standards than the two pics I put below. And any one of the guys I know back home would have said beyond any shadow of a doubt that he was the most gay of gay men to have ever gayed the surface of the earth haha.

In many cultures body hair is a symbol of masculinity, as is body size, muscle mass, height etc
When comparing Asian cultures to the afore mentioned cultures, there is a clear distinction in those particular traits.
That said, those in the former cultures will tend to perceive those in the ladder cultures as being relatively more feminine.
As an example, if any high school student in the US styled his hair (lets even ignore the makeup for now) like this or

I think I agree with you, western guys really try hard to put on the whole "man act" sometimes at the expense of being nice or considerate towards others.

Also, let me add that I found that JApanese guys have SERIOUS low self-esteem issues. I would love to say it is due to the penis size thingie, but I bet it's related to the "I cannot show my emotions, I need to keep them locked deep inside till I cant take in anymore, and then I can proudly toss myself on the railway and die" social problem. For me many Japanese seem to have some sort of social phobia, but again I am speaking about Tokyo-auto-bots.

I'd pick a girl that explodes whenever she feels like it over a girl who hides it well and runs towards a heart attack like a typhoon. With emotional people you know where you are standing, with those who hide feeling and emotions I'd die of boredom. I am not referring to arrogance or violence here.
