Indonesia has many beautiful islands. <3

....and I see for one fleeting moment
A paradise under the sun
I drift away
And I make my way back to you...

Personally i was born in the part of the world that we can call Denmark. It's quite a small place with a big collective ego nontheless. Even though i was born here, i'm not part of society and the collective in that sense. I'm not into politics in the sense that any ideology and any world view is an abstraction from reality, acting like a filter. The filter of denmark, political party + education etc. I've decided to not carry those, and so i cannot feel proud of the country in which i was born. To me, the whole world is one, people live different places, have different mind structures and different ways of life, but we're all people nontheless. I cannot feel proud of anything any country has done, usually national pride relates to what the nation achieved in terms of worldly reckognition and how well they did in wars, politics etc. Since i disassociate myself from anything thereof, i cannot say i'm proud of the country, or anything in particular. I'm just happy to be alive.

Yes I'm proud of my country. - 09-08-2008, 12:10 AM

I am proud of my country. Being proud of your country doesn't mean you're exclaiming to the world that you think it's perfect. Despite our flaws we do have the freedom to change things IF we work together.

This upcoming presidental election will be a defining moment for our country. Americans have a clear choice of which direction where our country would like to turn to.

Is the U.S. a good country? A country it's citizens can be proud of? One simple way to tell is to look at the numbers of those trying to get in versus the numbers of those trying to get out.

Yeah... But, after they get in here, are they proud? Or do they get in here and realize that it really sucks compared to all the stories they've heard?

I despise this country, honestly. Every day I sit through another history class, or watch the news, I find even more reasons to hate it. I could list them, but it would take up three or four pages.

So, put simply. No, I am NOT proud of this country.

Why ARN'T you proud?

Yeah, I disagree with some things that
we've done, who doesn't?

But to not have pride in the place you were
born and that has given you endless opportunities?
Get out then.

I'm proud to be in my country. I have so many freedoms and rights compared to many other people. Even though we may have gone through rough times, I believe that my country will get through it.

Are the immigrants who have become citizens proud? Well do this:
Ask them! Ask them! Ask them!
I have, have you? And what did they say?
Don't use four pages, just give four reasons.

WE ARE WAITING FOR YOUR RESPONSE. Your silence will speak volumes.
