Thanks for that clarification, Columbine.
The USGS Earthquake registry now has over 50 aftershocks over mag 5 listed since the 8.9 quake.

Facebook came in real handy this morning, because most of my friends thought to check in as soon as they could. However, one is still to be heard from up in Iwate. At least his school is inland and high up, so there was no worry about him being in the tsunami.

Another big aftershock has hit.

I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if the death toll reaches into the thousands. People here in Tokyo have died, and Tokyo is 250 miles from the epicenter, and there were no significant tsunamis here.

Scarcely a minute goes by without more shaking, and as I write I can hear the closet doors rattling. It can only be much worse in northern Japan.

US Army and SDF helicopters were headed to northern Japan within 30 minutes of the original quake.

As could be expected, there have been no cases of looting, and stores and shops have been giving food to those stranded at the stations for free. Highway and airport buses have been donated to help get stranded people home.

Nagoya appears to be untouched.

As I said in an earlier post - it shook here, but no quake or tsunami damage.
Nothing at all to worry about for the Nagoya area.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.
