Hello... biggest oil producer in North Africa?

It's why the Brits were sucking Gaddafi's d*ck before the uprising.

While I agree that the military intervention is not an altruistic move (nothing in politics ever is), I think that if it turns out that it works in the favour of the Libyan people, I'm for it.

But where is the intervention in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia which have also fired on it's own citizens? Oh that's right.. Bahrain and Saudi is a US ally.
totally agree.

Kozyra; The Hebrews were one of the orginal Canaanite tribes through Abraham. The "Arabs" ancestory is from Hagar's son. Hagar was the Egyptian slave girl who was sent to Abraham by his wife Sarah, who didn't think she could concieve. However, she did concieve and her decendants are the Hebrews, who are the rightful owners of that land. Land given to them by Jehova. According to relgious texts anyway. Course everyone over there follows those...right?

Suki; Much of your logic is why the US invaded Iraq. Everyone was pissed off at Bush even though Obama is doing the same thing, some of his words are even identical to Bush's.

They should just stop pussyfooting around, delcare the US the United American Empire and take the oil from them. Most of the world thinks we are the big bad guys anyhow, might as well show them what that would really mean. It's ironic that Bin ladin started this mess cause he wanted the US out of Muslim countries...we are in more of them now than ever. At this rate 3 or 4 presidents from now we probably will end up occupying the entire middle east.

In the same place they were when Hamas terrorists were slaughtering Israelis.

The whole idea is nonsense, and democracy in Libya after it's "revolution" is as likely as democracy in Cuba next week. These "revolutions" in the middle east generally result in one dictator replacing another, and things staying the way they always have been. It is a place where strength is respected more than ideals like democracy or freedom.

Perhaps the UN is looking for another mission to "administer" aid (meaning that it wants to spend billions of dollars of member country's money, allowing UN-chosen contractors to get rich, and then give kickbacks to UN officials).

Perhaps when we discuss Iraq, we can remember a decade's worth of UN resolutions which were never enforced by the UN. We should remember the UN's "Oil For Food Program" which was supposed to allow Saddam Hussein to sell oil to feed his people, but which instead was used to enrich UN officials while allowing Saddam to go on and build palaces and oppress as usual. Had the UN acted on the first of it's resolutions, rather than not acting on the dozen or so that it issued over the years, there probably would never have been a second gulf war. We should remember Bill Clinton's December 1999 speech where he said that Saddam's weapons of mass destruction programs must be dealt with. We should remember the countless times that UN weapons inspectors were detained, prevented to look in certain areas, or simply ejected from the country, even in the weeks before the war started. Bush was no genius, but he was not the only one to blame for the war.

And Obama has continued the war, even though he said that "combat operations have ceased". A play on words which means that attacks are simply called "security actions", but are no different from the "combat operations" of before. It's hilarious, but exactly what someone would expect from a president who was a law professor.

Obama and the UN would be better off letting Libya settle this themselves. If Qadafi wins, so what? His successor probably would be no different than he was.

Although, most do not have an idea of what the "right" solution to stop him is. I would rather see action than inaction. The US has learned a very painful lesson on both sides of conflicts like this. When we get involved in another countries turmoil (regardless if asked) we are seen as Invaders or us policing the world. If we sit on the sidelines we are punished as well. During Clinton's indecisive about Rwandan over 800,000 people died not only does it still haunt him to this day, the US was bashed continuously about the decision not acting swiftly to stop the killing then there's conflict that happen in Somilia. We are damned if we do and damned if we dont thats result of being who we are.

Again, im not saying armed conflict is the answer but when do we say enough is enough and as a coalition intervene on behalf of those who can protect themselves. Im going to agree with Ryzorian a little. Maybe the US should step back and trim its role and let the world sort itself out. I wonder what the world would be like in 10 years humanity does not have the best track record of doing the "right thing"

Can you explain the word in red on the sequence of events and numbers of victims from both sides, please ?

O man ! I expected from you to say anything to me except to say that Hebrews were one of the tribes of the Canaanites .... I want the historical facts and I do not want the facts according to the texts of religious books, with great respect for all religions and holy books.
