The only movies in this top ten list which isn't poor in my own eyes is Titanic and MAYBE the first Lord of The Rings. But other then those two.. also if you go on in those top Box Offices you won't find many good movies.. most them are rubbish to me, so the chance that Avatar strikes is very low right?

1. Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora (2009) $2,781,505,847
2. Titanic (1997) $1,835,300,000
3. Der Herr der Ringe - Die Rückkehr des Königs (2003) $1,129,219,252
4. Pirates of the Caribbean - Fluch der Karibik 2 (2006) $1,065,896,541
5. Toy Story 3 (2010) $1,062,984,497
6. Alice im Wunderland (2010) $1,023,285,206
7. The Dark Knight (2008) $1,001,921,825
8. Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen (2001) $968,657,891
9. Fluch der Karibik - Am Ende der Welt (2007) $958,404,152
10. Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes - Teil 1 (2010)

Your probably right. But I thought without the 3-D effect it's even worse..
It's not the first Lord of the Rings movie but the third.

Yeah the plot is not original and it was easy to imagine how the story would turn out in the end. So what? A predictable storyline isn't necessarily a bad thing. Much on the contrary. In my script writing class I'm always told to NEVER suggest that something is about to happen unless I mean for it to happen at some point, so that the audience won't get frustrated. You have to give them the ending they want and it was clear that Avatar would have a happy ending and it was super clear right from the very first scene that Jake would fall in love with Neytiri and he'd live a happy life as a member of the avatar community for ever after. I don't see how the fact that the plot was predictable can be used as an argument to say it wasn't that much of a great movie.

Yeah of course there's that. Any piece of footage that has James Cameron's signature on it is bound to be a success, that's for sure.

The first one was the only one worth watching for me, it was original and new.. the rest was basically the same with a little more action.. but other than that a triology was way over the top for this saga.

One 3 hour movie would have been enough to be honest..

The eagles could not have carried Frodo to Mount Doom because they would have been seen and the Nazgul would have caught them and taken The Ring. One does not just fly into Mordor. Frodo had to slip in without being seen. Eagles would surely have caught Sauron's attention and would have sent the Nazgul after them.

So, not a plothole. Makes a lot of sense to me.

speaking of plot-holes, you guys know HowItShouldHaveEnded videos? i love them since they find cool ways to show how dumb something was, even in good movies.

I don't find it funny.

There's only two scenes in the whole trilogy (extended version, that is) that -in my opinion- could have been improved. And one of them, which is the one in which Legolas jumps on the back of the Mûmakil and is shooting arrows at him like crazy, is explained in an interview with the head of the CG department, in which he explains how hard it was for them to make it look real so the computerized Legolas came out looking too much like a videogame character, but that's ok and it can be overlooked because of how hard it would have taken for them to make it look 100% realistic.

It's interesting to see people talk and complain about films, but you will have to excuse me when I say that I find it pathetic when people consider less of people because of films.

I have no doubt that Casablanca was a well written film for it's time, but it's still a boring movie.

I'm surprised no one has stated Seven Samurai and Zatoichi. Easily two of my fav films. I also find that Samurai Fiction has a soft spot in my heart too.
