What? - 10-07-2007, 06:55 AM

I'm confused! I'm not sure about something. Can you say namea or onamae-wa for name? And Bokuno and Watashi no seem to both mean "my" Help? What's correct? What isn't?

Relax, Kandierain!

When you talk about your own name, use 'namae'. When you talk about someone else's name, use 'onamae'.

'Bokuno' is almost always used by men. I've only met a girl or two in my long life who used 'boku' to refer to themselves. You could safely say that those girls are usually heavily addicted to manga.

"Watashino" is used by many people, men and women. to mean 'my'. The only group of people who don't use it would be young males, who use 'bokuno' or 'oreno' 'Watashi' is more formal than 'boku' or 'ore'.

In time to come, this thread will be buried along with the others just like all the other threads. Could we sort of make a sticky to this thread so that that would not happen?

Even better, how about a mod that keeps every noob from posting his or her Andy Griffith-esque "Hi, I am me!" on the General Forums?

It means "Isn't that Right?" its hard to put context on it, but that's the closest i could get to.

Really? Never heard or seen the phrase until today. And I am a Japanese-speaker.

How is the でょ part even pronounced?
